The novel was a Barnes and Noble Discover New Writers Finalist.  This book was subsequently optioned by Warner Brothers and Universal.  In fact, Mr. Hubner went to Hollywood where he had all his sweet dreams dashed like generations of good honest writers before him.  His second novel We Pierce was chosen as a New York Times Notable Book.  His research interests include composition and rhetoric, college standards, American Indian and military history and all other things American.  He is particularly interested in cities and riots.  An early first memory is of Newark in the 60’s.

Besides the novels he has published stories in small magazines like The Evergreen Review, Clapboard House and Danse Macabre.

He is currently working on a memoir about the group of friends he belonged to in the East Village in the 90’s.  They all wanted to be artists; a lot of them got into trouble.  There was a riot.  He is a first generation college student who has lived with empowerment and literacy issues his whole life.  This has informed his 25 year career in the City University.
