Dean of Academic Affairs and Institutional Effectiveness, Research & Assessment

In her role as Dean of Academic Affairs and Institutional Effectiveness, Babette Audant provides leadership and direction in the areas of college-wide strategic planning, assessment, and accreditation including implementation of the college’s 2023-28 Strategic Plan: Hostos Elevating Justice. She played a key role in the Hostos’ 2022 Self-Study Report process and Hostos’ 2023 recognition as a Top 10 Community College by the Aspen Institute. She serves as the college’s Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO) to the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. As a member of the Office of Academic Affairs, Dr. Audant works closely with faculty in career and technical education programs, supporting Perkins implementation among other initiatives that support academic and career alignment.
 
Prior to her appointment here at Hostos, Dr. Audant was the Director of the Center for Economic and Workforce Development at Kingsborough Community College, where she earned tenure as an Assistant Professor of Culinary Arts. She was PI and co-PI on several US Department of Labor and National Science Foundation grants focused on the integration of academic pathways, career preparation and workforce development. She led programs that served disconnected young adults, in addition to more targeted workforce development initiatives.
 
A first-gen American, and second-gen CUNY degree earner, Dr. Audant earned her Ph.D. in Earth and Environmental Sciences from the CUNY Graduate Center, a Master’s of Public Administration from Baruch College, an Associate’s of Occupational Studies from the Culinary Institute of America, and a Bachelor of Arts from the College of Letters at Wesleyan University.
