The City University of New York is offering its first Summer Creative Writing Program in Spanish. Hostos Community College’s Latin American Writers Institute (LAWI), which is led by Hostos assistant professor Inmaculada Lara-Bonilla, is collaborating with Enclave: revista de creación literaria en español and the CUNY Academy for the Humanities and Sciences to offer this series of workshops to all city students and creative writers free of charge.

Other colleges supporting this program include Guttman Community College, Queens College, and Queensborough Community College.

More than 30 participants have been selected to participate in three different workshops, these include Poetry, taught by awarded poet Dinapiera Di Donato; Play Writing; taught by playwright, actress, and director Alejandra Ramos Riera; and Journalistic Essay, taught by experienced journalist and editor Mariza Bafile. The workshops meet in Manhattan, at Guttman Community College, located at 50 West 40th St., and run for two weeks (June 10 until June 20).

Participants and instructors will share their work in a closing event at Hostos Community College on June 20. 2019, at 6:00 p.m. For inquiries about this program, or to attend the culminating reading of June 20, please contact Hostos’ Latin American Writers Institute Director at ilarabonilla@hostos.cuny.edu.
