The 2016 Scholarship Benefit on Friday, May 6th was a tremendous success.  We sincerely thank all of our guests and supporters who made this event memorable. With close to 300 people in attendance, the storied history of Hostos Community College and the continued generosity of the College's alumni, faculty, community partners and supporters was celebrated. The Honorable Hector Díaz, recipient of the Distinguished Leadership and Service Award and The Carroll and Milton Petrie Foundation, recipient of the Community Engagement Lifetime Achievement Award, were honored for their unwavering support of the College's educational mission of providing quality higher education leading to intellectual growth and socio-economic mobility. Over the past six years, the annual Scholarship Benefit has raised close to $2M for student scholarships.

This year, Hostos was excited to announce the establishment of the Hector Díaz Scholarship fund with a leadership gift of $100,000 from the Acacia Network. Hostos' Text2Pledge campaign raised over $25,000 benefiting the Hostos Two Generation Student Retention and Degree Acceleration Program that provides student-parents with one free summer course and allows their children to attend Hostos' College for Kids Summer Academy for free. Also, Sandy Figueroa was the winner of the Text2Pledge raffle, which included two tickets to the Broadway hit Hamilton.

A special thank you to all who attended and all who have donated to the past, present and future of Hostos Community College student scholarships and services. Take a look at the full event photo album on Facebook.

Thank you!
