This year’s Hostos Giving Tuesday campaign raised over $42,000, exceeding the College’s original goal of $30,000 and the CUNY Tuesday campaign raised over $1 million, thus demonstrating the extraordinary impact of The City University of New York community.

Throughout Giving Tuesday, observed this year on December 3, members of the extended Hostos community—near and far—gave in support of three important financial awards: the Bridge Tuition Support Assistance Program (BTSA), Circle of 100 Emergency Fund, and General Academic Excellence Fund (GAEF). The BTSA program is an emergency fund that assists financially challenged students who are close to graduation with tuition expenses, helping to see them through to degree completion. The Circle of 100 Emergency Fund helps students with expenses that all too often prohibit them from continuing with their studies, such as MetroCards, course materials, and examination and certification fees, to name a few. And, the GAEF provides accomplished students with monetary awards during Hostos’ Annual Honors Convocation.

Faculty, staff and students also participated in this year’s Giving Tuesday “Thank You” campaign, for which they penned letters of gratitude to donors and members of the Hostos family who have supported them throughout their Hostos journey. The heartfelt messages will soon make their way into the hands and hearts of their intended recipients, serving as a reminder of the impact our community’s generosity has on our students.

The Hostos Community College Foundation extends a sincere thank you to everyone who made a gift in support of student success. Thanks to your generosity, more students will have the financial support necessary to pursue and attain their degree.
