Haile Rivera

Hostos alumni Haile Rivera has stayed very busy since earning his AAS Degree in Public Policy & Administration in 2003. In addition to pursuing higher education degrees, he has worked with several prominent elected officials in all levels of government, including serving on President Obama's Transition Team in Washington, DC.

Now, the native of the Dominican Republic, who moved to United States as a young boy, has accepted a new challenge, as he has recently been named the Executive Director of the National Supermarket Association (NSA).

The Bronx resident said it was his time at Hostos Community College that helped shaped the interpersonal skills he has used to successfully in working with other people and building strong relationships.

“Hostos is a big part of my life. I learned about Hostos because my uncle was also a student at the college. Aside from the quality of education I received inside the classroom, the skills I obtained dealing with different people was something I still use every day,” Rivera said.

In his role as Executive Director, Rivera will oversee the daily operations of the NSA and represent the interests of more than 400 independent supermarkets.
