For the sixth straight year, Hostos Community College has been selected as one of the Top 10 Digital Community Colleges in the nation by the Center for Digital Education.

This year, Hostos finished No. 2 overall, which is the highest the College has finished.

"We have a great team of individuals who work very closely with all the different constituent groups to identify how to integrate technology into the academic and administrative systems, and this award is a direct reflection of their efforts and accomplishments," said Varun Sehgal, the Assistant Vice President/Chief Information Officer at Hostos.

Sehgal added that the award was also the result of a great team effort at the College.

“This is yet another testament to the tremendous collaborative efforts we’ve had across the campus to remain a forward-thinking institution, which utilizes technology effectively and efficiently in every area,” Sehgal said. “We are very grateful to the Center for Digital Education for recognizing our accomplishments, and I’m confident we’ll continue to make progress by focusing on improving our services and solutions to meet the demands and expectations of our students, faculty, staff and community.”

According to the Center, the top 10 winning colleges reflect a “comprehensive implementation of technology supporting the educational institution’s operations, as well as serving students, faculty and administrators.”

A reception was held concurrent with the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC)’s Annual Conference on April 19 in San Antonio.
