Thursday, June 6, 2013 (Bronx, NY) – Bill Sorice, Hostos Acting Coach and Stage Manager for the Hostos Repertory Company, is starring in the new award-winning indie film, Matt's Chance, which premieres in New York City on Friday, June 14, at the New York City International Film Festival.
In Matt’s Chance, Sorice plays one of the leading roles as an Eastern European mobster named “Gabor.” He co-starred alongside some Hollywood heavy-hitters, including Edward Furlong, Gary Busey, Margot Kidder, and Lee Majors. Matt’s Chance is a darkly comedic tale of love, revenge and the fickle nature of human morality. Written and directed by Nicholas Gyeney and co-written by comedian Edi Zanidache, Matt’s Chance tells the story of Matt (Edward Furlong), a down-on-his-luck loser who on his birthday night discovers his fiancée, Jessica, in bed with another man. As Matt learns the true depth of Jessica’s betrayal, he begins a downward spiral revenge quest that pits him face-to-face with a wide array of characters, including an Eastern European mobster (Bill Sorice), an eccentric pawn shop owner (Gary Busey), an aging stripper (Margot Kidder), and a barber with an agenda (Lee Majors).
Also a writer and director, the multi-talented native New Yorker is excited about what represents his breakthrough role. Sorice is no stranger to the film festival circuit. He has already written, directed and produced three award-winning short films, which have been featured at various festivals around the world. Sorice has been working at Hostos since 2009.
“The role of Gabor was a dream role for a character actor like myself,” Sorice said. “Although he is an Eastern European ‘mobster’, he’s not a stereotypical one; he has some secrets, so I tried to walk a very fine line with him.” Sorice added that reviews on the movie website, IMDb, about the character of Gabor have been very positive, but he is anxious to see the response from his native New York film audience.
Matt’s Chance will open in theaters in limited release in Seattle, Los Angeles, and New York by late October. Immediately following that, the film will be released on VOD platforms including iTunes, Netflix, Amazon Instant, Hulu, Cable On Demand, as well as on Blu-Ray and DVD, both online and in retail stores nationwide.
Sorice was also a consultant on the Hostos Repertory Theater production of the play, Rough Magic, which is heading to Scotland in August for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the world’s largest arts festival. The Hostos Repertory Company was the only community college in the nation invited to perform at this year’s Fringe.

About Bill Sorice:
William J. Sorice (SAG-AFTRA) is an American actor, writer, director and editor. Born and raised in Queens, New York, He moved to Manhattan in the early 1990s to attend college and pursue his dreams. Sorice received a bachelor’s in fine arts summa cum laude in communication arts from New York Institute of Technology.
Bill is often recognized as the character, “Lucky Two Fingers,” from the NY Lottery’s “Little Bit of Luck– Other Kinds of Luck” commercial, which ran nationally for 18 months.
He’s a successful filmmaker with three award-winning short films, Vinny Vino, Oh Happy Day and This is Only a Test. Bill also wrote and directed Out of the Box, which premiered at New York’s Producers Club grand theatre to a well-received audience.
He continues to write plays, short and feature-length screenplays that are available for option, purchase or co-production.
Bill drives a 1967 Plymouth Fury III convertible, resides in Manhattan with two cats, one wife and his baby girl, Audrey.
