Hostos women’s basketball team won its 25th straight game, after beating Borough of Manhattan Community College, 69-52, in the NJCAA Region XV title game

March Madness reached a whole new level when the women’s basketball team won its 25th straight game, after beating Borough of Manhattan Community College, 69-52, in the NJCAA Region XV title game on March 5. The victory earned the women’s team the first regional title in school history.

Next, the team prepares to win its first national title in program history at the NJCAA Tournament (March 16-18) at Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica, NY, at Jorgensen Athletic & Events Center.

This all came after the Caimans cruised to their first CUNYAC Championship since 2007 on February 17.
Hostos Athletic Director Krishna Dass said this squad has lifted the program into rare air.

“We are so proud of what these student-athletes have accomplished, on and off the basketball court,” Dass said. “They have elevated the program to new heights, and I commend them for their hard work and dedication".

Fellow guard Corina Coles (No. 1) also received a Region XV All-Tournament Award.

Head Coach DeVernie Winston said Green has an exceptionally high basketball IQ, which allows her to get her teammates involved in the offense.
