Deadline to Order Academic Regalia: Friday, April 21, 2023

The Class of 2023 commencements will be celebrated on campus in the Hostos Main Theater on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at 2:00PM and on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 11:00AM. Volunteers must wear regalia. Volunteers, should complete the online form by Friday, April 28, 2023.
Rehearsal
All volunteers must participate in a rehearsal prior to Commencement. The rehearsal will include a review of specific responsibilities and a script will be provided. Executive Chief of Staff Ms.Diana Kreymer and Theater Producer Greg Brown will facilitate the rehearsal.
Academic Regalia
All positions in the procession and stage require academic regalia. Volunteers will need to purchase or rent a cap and gown. Herff Jones orders can be placed not later than Friday, April 21, 2023 to ensure timely delivery.

The Office of Academic Affairs and President’s Office does not provide regalia. Faculty may use any other company of choice to acquire academic regalia.
Marshal Positions
Faculty may volunteer to serve as Platform Marshals or College Marshals on one or both days. Refreshments will be provided.
Brief position descriptions appear below. Prior experience is not necessary.
Platform Marshals: These individuals will be responsible for assisting the platform party onto the stage and into their correct seats; assisting the students on and off of the stage when receiving their diplomas; assisting the platform party off the stage at the end of the Ceremony. These individuals will be stationed by the stage prior to the start of the procession and will not be part of the academic procession. However, they will be seated on the stage during the Ceremony. Expect to stand for the entirety of the conferral of degrees in this role (approximately 60 minutes).
College Marshals: These individuals will be responsible for assisting the graduates during the Ceremony. They will work with the Stage Manager to distribute name cards; assist the students in robing; line up the graduates, according to degree and seating; lead the students to and from the stage when they are awarded their diplomas, and lead the graduates out at the end of the Ceremony. Expect to march throughout the processional with the graduates and for short portions of the ceremony (approximately 30 minutes).
