#2: Networking to Create Opportunities for Hostos Students

Idea: Organize networking events to source potential partner-employers. Create a prospective partners list of small businesses and larger corporations from various industries, and from manufacturing, wholesale, retail, construction, and professional services.

#3: Discussion on Emerging (or “Promising”) Workforce Trends Hostos Can Lead on
Moderated by Dean Peter Mertens and Evelyn Fernandez-Ketcham

Idea: to create and convene a CEWD Workforce Advisory Council of unions, chamber of commerce, community based agencies that provide workforce development services/training providers to discuss the crossroads of economic, education and workforce development needs for the Bronx. We would meet 3 times a year starting in September to address one or two concerns and the role Hostos can play in meeting those concerns. One example is of Healthcare staffing shortage of entry level jobs.

#4: Fostering Collaborations between Hostos Departments and Corporate Partners

Idea: To identify one or two sectors with a prominent community presence and broker discussions with one or two corporate entities from each sector.

#5: Networking with Educational Leaders to Identify Opportunities at Hostos
Moderated by Interim Provost Charles Drago

Idea: Infuse student internships related to art, dance, media, music, theater, and performance into the curriculum and  development of internships that expose high school and college students to industries including music, film, theater, dance, photography, television, digital animation, sustainability, environmental justice and social justice. And create a degree with pathways to different careers in theatre and art.
