Annual Assessment (AES)

Process

The annual planning and assessment reporting process is undertaken by each unit, within each division, every year. It focuses on the assessment of results and learnings from units' annual activities as well as assessing identified support outcomes (SO), student learning outcomes (SLO), and/or institutional advising outcomes (IAO).

The template for Annual Planning and Assessment is divided into two sections that units complete:

Section 1 - "What did you do this year?" includes the following:
  • Strategic plan-aligned goals for the AES unit
  • Relevant unit activities related to each of the goals that will be conducted in the academic year (start of the academic year)
  • Results of those activities (end of the academic year)
  • Proposed actions in response to the results, linked to resources or support needed to enact these actions (end of the academic year)
Section 2 - "How did it go?" includes the following:
  • At least one support outcome (SO), student learning outcome (SLO), or institutional advisement outcomes (IAOs) to assess, and its aligned institutional learning outcome (ILO) (start of academic year)
  • Method of assessment they'll use to conduct the assessment (start of the academic year)
  • Results and learning from that assessment (end of academic year)
  • Plan for implementation of changes based on the assessment results, linked to resources or support needed to enact these changes (end of the academic year)
All of the information included in the A-PART is reviewed by several entities (including divisional leadership and the college's Institutional Effectiveness Committee) and used for future operational planning and resource allocation.
