Dilawar Grewal, Ph.D. Assistant Vice President of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer Dr. Dilawar Grewal has been appointed as the new Assistant Vice President of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer at Eugenio María de Hostos Community College, effective Monday, January 2, 2023. Dr. Grewal comes to Hostos with extensive experience not only in IT and digital transformation but in strategic and operational planning, business process optimization, change management, and more. He has worked in multiple higher education institutions, small and large, across the United States and globally. In addition to higher education, he has also engaged with governments, corporations, and K-12 school districts. Dr. Grewal stepped into the IT field as a student help desk technician while pursuing his graduate studies (in wave theory) at Texas A&M University (TAMU). He built and expanded his technical knowledge and experience across multiple institutions in his career. His many roles have spanned a gamut of responsibilities - from IT staff; adjunct faculty; Founding Director of TAMU Digital Library; Director of Technology; Assistant Vice Provost for Research; Associate Provost of Information Services; CIO to VP of Administration. His most recent higher education experience was at the University of the South Pacific, where he oversaw the administration of 14 campuses across 12 countries in the Pacific with 33,000 students, nearly 110 staff, and an IT network spanning 30 million square kilometers. Dr. Grewal’s expansive technical skillset has been the foundation upon which he has developed his administrative solution-producing mindset.
