HOSTOS ENGINEERING ACADEMIC TALENT (HEAT) SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Funded by the National Sciences Foundation STEM program, HEAT² Scholarships will support the retention and graduation of high-achieving, low-income students with demonstrated financial need in partnership with The City College of New York’s Grove School of Engineering (GSoE).
Over six years, HEAT² Scholars will receive a full year of financial and mentoring support for up to four years of study, including up to two years at Hostos and up to two years at the GSoE.
HEAT² Scholars will be awarded an average of $9,000 per year (i.e., $4,500 per semester) at Hostos and on average $11,000 per year (i.e., $5,500 per semester) at the GSoE depending on the scholars’ financial need.
Additional HEAT² Scholarship resources include:
- Writing across disciplines in the STEM curriculum
- Mentored immersive undergraduate research experiences
- Guidance and support for transfer to a four-year institution
- Exposure to STEM-related working and professional facilities
- Participation at professional STEM conferences
- Career orientation workshops and other professional development opportunities
Requirements:
- Be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, national, or refugee
- Be enrolled in one of the engineering programs at Hostos
- Maintain a minimum 2.8 college math and science GPA and an overall 2.8 GPA
SELECTION PROCESS TIMELINE:

Oct 1 – Oct 15: Application Processing
Nov 3: Scholars Notification
Nov 10, 2025 at 5:00 pm: Selected students MUST ACCEPT or DECLINE the offer
