HOSTOS ENGINEERING ACADEMIC TALENT (HEAT) SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Funded by the National Sciences Foundation STEM program, HEAT² Scholarships will support the retention and graduation of high-achieving, low-income students with demonstrated financial need in partnership with The City College of New York’s Grove School of Engineering (GSoE).

Over six years, HEAT² Scholars will receive a full year of financial and mentoring support for up to four years of study, including up to two years at Hostos and up to two years at the GSoE.

HEAT² Scholars will be awarded an average of $9,000 per year (i.e., $4,500 per semester) at Hostos and on average $11,000 per year (i.e., $5,500 per semester) at the GSoE depending on the scholars’ financial need.

Additional HEAT² Scholarship resources include:
  • Writing across disciplines in the STEM curriculum
  • Mentored immersive undergraduate research experiences
  • Guidance and support for transfer to a four-year institution
  • Exposure to STEM-related working and professional facilities
  • Participation at professional STEM conferences
  • Career orientation workshops and other professional development opportunities

Requirements:
  • Be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, national, or refugee
  • Be enrolled in one of the engineering programs at Hostos
  • Maintain a minimum 2.8 college math and science GPA and an overall 2.8 GPA
