The event, held in celebration of Women's History Month, took place at Brooklyn College Graduate Center for Worker Education. CUNY Trustee Una S. T-Clarke presented a powerful motivational speech that embodied the evening’s theme of acknowledging women leaders.

“I’m grateful to God for life, to my family and friends for their ongoing support, and to my CUNY colleagues,” Dean García Reyes said. “I thank the Bronx Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for inviting me to participate in this forum.”

Congresswoman Yvette Clarke presented the award to Dean García Reyes.

The Empowerment Forum was made possible through the collaborative efforts of Anselma Rodríguez, Carlos Sierra, Dean Lucas, and Dr. Ebony Kirkland. Presenting sponsors were the Bronx Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the New York State Coalition of Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, National Association of State Latino Chambers of Commerce, Andina Chamber of Commerce, Brooklyn College of CUNY, Ebony Multicultural Market Research, and True Care.
