The CUNY TV program “EdCast,” hosted and written by longtime Hostos English Professor Linda Hirsch and produced by her and Jerold Barnard, has won two more Telly Awards for excellence in cable broadcasting for 2019.
This year’s “EdCast” award-winning programs were
“A Conversation with André Aciman: Whose Text is it Anyway?” and
“New York City Men Teach: Bringing Men of Color into the Classroom.” “EdCast” has now won five Telly Awards.
Hirsch, who earned her Ph.D. in English Education from New York University, is a literacy development expert and was the education consultant and producer of an education segment on “BronxTalk” and “Open,” two live cable TV programs on BronxNet Television. She also worked as a content consultant for the PBS television series “Ghostwriter.” She has also taught graduate courses at Columbia University’s Teachers College, New York University, and the CUNY Graduate Center.
“We are honored and excited to have won two Telly Awards this year,” Hirsch said. “The shows selected represent the diversity of the topics covered on “EdCast,” from an interview with an acclaimed novelist to an examination of improving classroom outcomes for students. We are looking forward to continuing to offer innovative and informative programming for our audience.”
Telly Awards are presented by the New York City-based organization of the same name. Its stated purpose is to honor the very best local, regional, and cable television commercials and programs, as well as the finest video and film productions, and work created for the Web.
