On Tuesday, March 15, 2016, the Hostos Community College Senior Dental Hygiene students were invited to attend a taping of “The Dr. Oz Show.”

Hostos Professor Julie Bencosme from the Dental Hygiene Unit said that because Dr. Mehmet Oz has consistently shown a dedication to the influence of oral health and overall systemic health, his television show reached out to health programs throughout the city, including Hostos’ Dental Hygiene Program. The show’s topic was about healthy versus unhealthy food choices in relation to nutrition and diet.

In addition to Professor Bencosme, the students were accompanied by other faculty, including Salim Rayman, Dental Hygiene Unit Coordinator; Petal Leuwaisee, Joyce Dais, Denice Brown, and Joy Perez.

The show is scheduled to air in early May.
