On January 27, the Hostos Student Government Association (SGA) received the Allies Appreciation Award. Presented in recognition of the SGA’s partnership with the CUNY Coalition for Students with Disabilities (CCSD), the award celebrates the support provided by Hostos for students within the disability community during the coronavirus pandemic.
“The SGA’s efforts are a vital part of the College’s response to the pandemic,” said Interim President Daisy Cocco De Filippis, “and I offer my congratulations to the President, Executive Board, and SGA senators. They make everyone at Hostos proud.”
Noting that January 29 marked the last day of Muiz Agbaje’s term as SGA President, De Filippis took the opportunity to thank Agbaje for his service and welcome SGA President-Elect Brian Carter.
The CCSD works to address the needs and support the goals of thousands of students across the University. The CCSD co-sponsors the award with the CUNY Office of Student Inclusion Initiatives. The SGA is one of the main organizations that serves and represents the needs and interests of students at Hostos Community College.
