On behalf of the students, faculty, and staff of Eugenio María de Hostos Community College, as well as the Board of Directors of the Hostos Community College Foundation, thank you for your generous support of the  2017 Scholarship Benefit.

The event, which took place on May 5th on the Hostos campus, was replete with diverse flavors and rhythms, moving testimonials, and inspiring honorees. The Stavros Niarchos Foundation was honored with our Philanthropic Impact Award and Dr. Daisy Cocco De Filippis, President of Naugatuck Valley Community College, received our Educator of the Year Award. Noticiero 47 Telemundo news reporter Cristina Navarrete shined as the evening's Mistress of Ceremonies, as dinner, music and dancing added to the special Hostos familia affair. However, it was our students who were truly the highlight of this memorable evening.

With your support, our enrollment and graduation rates continue to rise, and our course offerings continue to expand - for instance, our Construction Industry Workforce Development Program will soon provide students with the training necessary to enter a burgeoning field. And, as reported in The New York Times, a recent study by the Equality of Opportunity Project indicates that Hostos boasts the highest  "intergenerational social mobility rate" among two-year CUNY institutions. This report bears out what we have witnessed firsthand: affordable, high quality education transforms lives. Your contribution is truly an investment - not only in our dedicated students, but in a sound future for us all.
