On December 1, 2022, The New York Community Trust announced its approval of a $100,000 award to the Hostos Community College Foundation. This gift will enable the Center for Bronx Nonprofits (CBNP) at Hostos to develop and deliver an Equitable Succession Planning Workshop Series for up to 15 nonprofits. The Foundation extends its gratitude to The New York Community Trust for making this investment in our community.

The virtual workshop series, developed in collaboration with local consultants, will be open to any Bronx-based or Bronx-serving nonprofits. Participants will gain insight about how to prepare their nonprofit for leadership transitions and how to establish an equity-centered succession plan that fosters healthy, sustainable working environment for employees at all levels.

In the Bronx, nearly one-third of working adults are employed by a nonprofit, and within that group, a majority are women and people of color. While these new offerings will provide transformative experiences for participants, the real benefit is felt by the community members who receive more effective services.

Established in 2012, CBNP is an important arm of the Hostos Community College Division of Continuing Education and Workforce Development. CBNP was developed to serve as a resource that furthers the mission of Hostos Community College to be a resource for life-long learning and community empowerment, and in this capacity, it has served hundreds of individual leaders in dozens of organizations, helping them to better serve thousands of New Yorkers.
