The Office of Academic Affairs is pleased to welcome Dr. Babette Audant as Dean of Academic Affairs. Dean Audant will now serve as Dean of Academic Affairs and Institutional Effectiveness, Research and Assessment.
Dr. Audant joined Hostos Community College in 2018 as the Assistant Dean for Institutional Effectiveness, Strategic Planning and Assessment. In this role, she provided executive leadership and direction in the areas of college-wide strategic planning, assessment, continuous improvement, and institutional effectiveness.
She currently manages the college’s operational processes, including the implementation and assessment of progress toward the college’s five-year Strategic Plan priorities, initiatives, and indicators of success. Dean Audant serves on the President’s Cabinet, is a member of the self-study Steering Committee, and serves as a member of several college-wide entities including the Committee on Sponsored Programs and Grants (CSPG) and the Community Advisory Council.
“The Office of Academic Affairs is thrilled to welcome Dean Audant to the team. We value her years of experience and knowledge, and we look forward to working with her,” remarked Interim Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Charles I. Drago.
Prior to her appointment at Hostos, Dean Audant was the Director of the Center for Economic and Workforce Development at Kingsborough Community College, where she earned tenure as Assistant Professor of Culinary Arts. She served on the President’s Cabinet, the Middle States committee, and contributed to the development and implementation of the college’s Strategic Plan. Dr. Audant focused on innovative programs that link credit and non-credit efforts on creating partnerships with faculty in a variety of disciplines as well as collaborations with partners across CUNY.
She earned her Ph.D. in Earth and Environmental Sciences from the CUNY Graduate Center, a Master’s of Public Administration from Baruch College, an Associate’s of Occupational Studies from the Institute of Culinary Arts, and a Bachelor of Arts from the College of Letters at Wesleyan University.
“I loved the energy at Hostos years before I started working here. I’m excited about this opportunity to continue learning and contributing to this community in a new role,” said Dean Audant, adding that, “The past year has underscored the urgency of what we do, and the central role of community colleges like Hostos, play in our society. Community Colleges are an intellectual, emotional, and material anchor for those we serve, our students. Hostos’ mission is a mandate and that’s both grounding and energizing.”
