The Hostos Center for the Arts & Culture presents Calpulli Mexican Dance Company’s Navidad. This cultural journey gives us a glimpse of how a young person of immigrant parents growing up in NYC embraces and celebrates her dual identity and all her cultures! The journey will feature folkloric Mexican dance and music, U.S. contemporary traditions and the combination of both. Children of all ages and their families will learn about this special Navidad from dancers, musicians and directors.

Este viaje cultural nos da una idea de cómo una joven de padres inmigrantes que crece en la ciudad de Nueva York abraza y celebra su identidad dual y todas las culturas. El viaje contará con segmentos de danza y música folclórica mexicana, tradiciones contemporáneas de los Estados Unidos y la combinación de ambas. Los niños de todas las edades y sus familias aprenderán sobre esta Navidad especial de los bailarines, músicos y directores.
Calpulli Mexican Dance Company’s performances are like the traditions of Mexico: colorful, passionate, and inviting. The Company has a vibrant repertoire of dance with live music featuring cherished traditions, lesser-known stories from across Mexico, and original works capturing the Mexican American spirit. Glorious costumes, contagious rhythms, and captivating performers are the company’s trademarks. They have performed at Carnegie Hall, Jacob’s Pillow, Lincoln Center Out of Doors and across the U.S.A.
SAFETY CHECKLIST FOR IN-PERSON ATTENDANCE
- All Adults:: Must show proof of vaccination OR proof of a negative PCR Test taken 7 days prior with a valid Photo ID.
- Children 5 and Over: Must show proof of vaccination OR a negative PCR Test taken 7 days prior.
- Masking: Masking inside the theater is required.
Vaccinated is defined as having received 2 doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines or the 1 dose of the Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine. Only valid, physical CDC cards or the NYS Excelsior Pass are accepted.
