On May 10, the Hostos Alumni Relations Office held its first “Laugh-a-ThON” student fundraiser featuring Hostos Community College alumna and professional comedian Melissa Díaz at the Mott Haven Bar & Grill.
The event reconnected the Hostos family for a night of laughs, as well as providing an opportunity to raise funds for the Circle of 100 Emergency Fund, which furthers student success.
A 2010 graduate, Díaz is a breakthrough comedian who has appeared at Caroline’s Comedy Club, the Broadway Comedy Club, and others. Díaz was joined by fellow New York City-based comedian Fumi Abe.
“Our first fundraising comedy show ever could not have been any better, said Felix Sanchez, Manager of Hostos’ Office of Alumni Relations. “Having Melissa Diaz representing our Alumni made the evening very special and entertaining. It was gratifying to witness her talent being used for a good cause, which also exemplifies the wide variety of talent found among Hostos Community College graduates.”
