We are pleased to share Leslie King has been appointed Interim Associate Dean of Student Development and Enrollment Management (SDEM). King has been at Hostos since June 2016, as the Director of the Financial Aid Office, during which time he has been responsible for:
- Successfully leading a diverse office of full-time and part-time employees; overseeing a central financial aid walk-in process and computer lab open to nearly 7,000 degree-seeking undergraduate students.
- Annual compliant processing of over 15,000 FAFSAs and 6,500 verifications.
- Awarding, reconciliation, and disbursement of the college’s nearly $35 million student aid program of city, state and federal funds.
Prior to joining Hostos, King served at the New School as the Associate Director of Undergraduate Financial Aid. He received his BA in Liberal Arts and MFA in Creative Writing from the New School. Over time, he has demonstrated strong team leadership with the capacity and competency to globally apply vast policies and procedures, as well as instill his aptitude for service. He currently serves as a member of the College’s Enrollment Management Committee, Senior Leadership Council, Middle States Standard IV Subcommittee, the Retention Research Committee, and the annual President’s Retreat. King states, “I have been fortunate to learn from a community of teammates, administrators, and faculty that share my appreciation regarding the magnitude of the decision a student makes to begin and/or continue to progress in their educational journey.”
