Today, Thursday, January 11 is Human Trafficking Awareness Day, also known as “Wear Blue Day.” Let's start conversations to address a concerning issue affecting job seekers. Human trafficking is not only confined to criminal activities; it also lurks behind false job advertisements, especially on online platforms targeting vulnerable individuals seeking employment.

In recognition of this important day, and throughout the month of January, Blue Campaign (https://www.dhs.gov/blue-campaign) hosts several special events and educational activities, the largest being #WearBlueDay on January 11.

The threat is real and, on the rise, as highlighted in this article: https://www.state.gov/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Online-Recruitment-of-Vulnerable-Populations-for-Forced-Labor.pdf

The FBI issued a warning about false job ads linked to labor trafficking. Stay informed and stay safe. Read more here: https://www.ic3.gov/Media/Y2023/PSA230522
