Mission of PTK – “The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa shall be to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students. To achieve this purpose, Phi Theta Kappa shall provide opportunity for the development of leadership and service, for an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and ideals, for lively fellowship for scholars and for stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence.”
Membership requirements
- Be enrolled in a two-year college
- Have accumulated the number of credit hours used by Hostos to designate full-time status
- Have a grade point average equivalent to not less than a "B.";
- Have established academic excellence as judged by the faculty
- Be of good moral character and shall possess recognized qualities of citizenship
- Have received an invitation to become a member of Phi Theta Kapa via mail or email
